What is wireless internet?

It is the transmission of data using radio frequencies. WiFi is a technology that uses radio waves to provide network connectivity. A WiFi connection is established using a wireless adapter to create hotspots - areas in the vicinity of a wireless router that are connected to the network and allow users to access internet services.An atenna with a radio/router is installed on the outside of the client's house/business which then communicates/connects with one of our local high sites.

What is Line of Sight (LoS)?

Line of sight is a clear path to one of our high sites, ensuring that the signal is not obstructed. Obstructed line of sight will cause the connection to fluctuate. Examples of obstructions are trees or buildings.

How do I get connected?

ASK IT sends out a technician to do a Site Survey to confirm line of sight. If line of sight is confirmed the client's next step will be to complete our Service Agreement, accompanied by a copy a their ID and Proof of Residence. Our billing department will then invoice for the installation fee, as soon as we receive the Proof of Payment thereof we shall contact you to schedule the installation. The installation requires our team to mount an antenna on the roof/outside of the house and run a cable to the inside of your building, connecting to it's power-supply and then connecting to your access point (WiFi-Router). All your devices will get their internet feed from this router.

My internet is not working, what can I do?

Make sure that the power supply to our equipment is powered on. Power Cycle the antenna and router’s power supplies. Plug out the power and reconnect power after 5 seconds. Ensure that the network cable is connected to your PC/Network. If it is just the one device that is not connecting to the internet, then firstly try to restart the device and check if it can connect to the internet after starting up again. Is my Uncapped data package truly UNCAPPED?

Yes, when you are subscribed to any of our Uncapped Wi-Fi data packages your data is unlimited, only your speed is set at the specific package's rate.

What internet speed do I need?

The speed of the service that you'll need depends on how you'd like to use the internet, as well as the number of devices you intend to have connected to your internet. Our 1Mbps package speed is perfect for checking emails, Whatapp and to use online services such as banking, and other day-to-day activities. However, if you like to watch videos online by streaming (such as Netflix, YouTube or ShowMax), or play games online with your PC/Laptop or with gaming systems (X-Box, PS3) or simply need to run a business, we recommend our faster 5Mbps Uncapped package. Higher speeds are also recommended if you have multiple devices that will be connected to the internet at the same time.

How do I change speeds after I start your service?

Switching to a faster or slower speed is as easy as simply contacting us via email or call us with instructions for which package to activate whicch month. Your billing will then be adjusted accordingly. For upgrades within the same month our billing department will invoice according to the days remaining in the month. We can do package changes right from our office, so there’s no need to have a technician on site.

Can I stop/suspend my account as needed?

If you need to stop the service for a given period simply let us know and we will configure the system accordingly and stop billing until you instruct us to reactivate the service.

I stopped my account, is there a re-connection fee?

No re-connection fees for clients who communicated to us to stop thier account until their return or need thereof.

My router is asking for a password, does ASK IT keep track of Wi-Fi passwords?

No. We do not store any wireless keys, passwords, or IDs. If you do know your password then the router will need to be reset, and then re-configured again with a name/SSID and Wi-Fi password.

What happens if I reset my router to factory default settings?

If you press the reset button on your router, it basically wipes the router clean and resets it back to how it was out of the box. Any devices you had connected to it wirelessly will need to be connected again after configuring the router with a new SSID and Wi-Fi password.

What is VoIP?

VoIP uses the Internet to make phone calls, instead of the old-fashioned phone network (known as the PSTN, publicly switched telephone network).

How does VoIP work?

VoIP converts the sound of your voice into data and uses Internet Protocol to send that data.

What do I need to use VoIP?

You need a internet connection, a VoIP phone and an assigned phone number. A VoIP phone can be an IP phone, which is a phone designed to work with VoIP.

How do I make and recieve calls?

You just pick up the phone and dial the number you'd like to call, national and international and to answer the phone is just like any other as well.

I am moving soon, can I take my VoIP with me?

Yes. VoIP phones work with an IP address. IP addresses don't have physical locations, so that means that you take your IP phone to any physical location that has high-speed Internet.

Do I need a computer to use VoIP?

No. You do not need a computer to use VoIP. You can just use the phone.

What are the advantages of VoIP?

There are several advantages to VoIP over a traditional phone service, such as, price, portability, and extra features.
